THe MAFYA is dedicated to helping Yale Alumni to perform and create, to watch others perform and create, and to support the overall state of artistic affairs in NYC (and possibly soon LA) as a vibrant, integrated community.  (This Mission Statement is currently under construction.  Last Updated 12/11/98).

Welcome to the Member Pages of THe MAFYA

Krista Madsen '95 and coworker-in-crime Dana Schwartz, editorial managers for a book review website by day, have just launched a new site of their own dedicated to women and language... readingdivas.com, where avid readers of life and language can post their original short fictions, poems, perspectives, lists, wordplay, and more. Writers, readers, revelers welcome...just log on...

THe MAFYA has just begun a partnership with the TKTV TV trivia site, created and run by TK Baltimore '96. We exp.ect to exchange much news and trivia about Yale celebrity alum (note some of her spottings on the Famous Yalies page) as well as random insults. TK also runs the Party of Five site with Rachel Vagts, which is incredibly (and scarily) detailed.

Ergo Theatre Company (ETC) is a not-for-profit producing organization whose mission is to "empower and sustain the careers of up-and-coming artists". ETC was founded in the summer of 1997 by Royana Black '95 and Robert Jay Cronin ("Bobby") '95, Artistic Director.

THE NEW MIKE ERRICO ALBUM IS OUT!!!!
Mike's MAJOR LABEL DEBUT, Pictures of the Big Vacation,
is on sale at Amazon for $12.99 or CD Now for $12.49

Turbo-Folk Acoustic Soul Rocker Genius Mike Errico '89 is well on his way to rock stardom. Check out his major label debut, Pictures of the Big Vacation, at Amazon or CD Now. Mike has played Woodstock '99 and opened for Semisonic (twice), Harvey Danger, Guster (they said to say "Hi," Mike), and Patti Rothberg, and played the Yale Alumni Assocation of Metro NY (our parent organization) Public Service Awards last year. His sister, Melissa, is also a Yale graduate (and Pat McEnroe's wife) and recently starred in the Broadway musical High Society. Mike's site includes a sound sample.

The Josh Dodes Band regularly pack the house at the Bitter End with their unique brand of tight, move-your-butt piano-funk, and are generating quite a buzz in the press (check out their fabulous write up in the Village Voice).  Their ranks include Josh Dodes '95 on vocals and killer piano, and the "stunningly good" (VV said it) Rena Desai '97 on backup vocals.  They are also my friend Rod's favorite band, and he didn't even go to Yale. JDB's Site includes sound samples.

Django Haskins is a regular on the East Village concert circuit, and his album Folding Stars has been named one of the year's ten best efforts by CMJ Magazine. Heralded as a gifted songwriter with great potential, he's about to begin a major tour of the eastern half of the US. He also once stole my drummer. Some of you may remember Django as the guitarist, lead vocalist, and principal writer of Yale's own Earl's Comfort Station, as well as member, arranger, and producer for the Duke's Men.

Amy Wilson SY '91 is a new series regular on The Norm Show, Wednesday nights at 9:30 on ABC (after Drew Carey). Please watch! The May 5th episode will also feature ANDY SIEGEL (Y 90). Congrats to them both.
